What to wear to your Boudoir photoshoot

So you’ve finally booked your date and now wondering WHAT TO WEAR to your boudoir photoshoot?

How and where are you going to find not 1 BUT 5 different looks for your session?! Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Don’t be! Finding outfits for your session is half the fun!

When I decided to become a Portland boudoir photographer, I knew my boudoir sessions will always include professional hair and make up AND unlimited wardrobe changes. Changing different outfits gives my clients the opportunity to explore different moods and usually starts with something more casual playful, then as the shoot progresses and my client relaxes, it gets sexier and sexier.

Lingerie has come a long way and there are a lot more options available than the good old  “bra and panties” set. Looking & feeling sexy can achieved in so many ways!

So I’m here to help you feel less stressed & help you get inspired! I have collected some of my favorite outfits which will hopefully give you lots of great ideas for your upcoming boudoir shoot.

1/ BUSTIER: A great way to create curves, give support and enhance your cleavage

2/ SHAPEWEAR has come a long way! There are so many beautiful options out there and they are very flattering for all body types.

3/BODYSUITS & TEDDIES: they are my favorites! They come in so many incredible options and they offer coverage at all the right places, which can make you feel comfortable and sexy!

4/ CORSET is a classic, a boudoir favorite and with good reason. It accentuates all the right areas, while “pulling it all in” and helps you look slimmer.

5/ WEAR SOMETHING OF HIS/HERS: bring something that belongs to your loved one, something that he/she is  very passionate about. The more effort you put into it, the more impressed he/she will be!

6/ “BARE” to be beautiful – because, in my opinion, sometimes LESS IS MORE.  All I need is YOU and some white sheets. This is one of my favorite  set ups. I find it very simple, timeless annnnnnd super sexy!

7/ THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX … Look in your closet! A see-through blouse, a baggy sweater with some boy shorts, a cozy cardigan, ripped jeans with a cute tank top can be a super fun set. Don’t overlook this one!

THINK TEXTURES

sequin, leather, fur, lace can bring tons of visual interest to the photographs and they tell a totally different story.

SHOES & ACCESSORIES

-High heel shoes: nude color shoes help your legs look longer.  Boots can be interesting with the right outfit. Try to avoid shoes with ankle straps as those “break up” your leg

-Eye lash extensions. It’s a staple in my studio! Depending on the client, we choose to apply a more natural, sometime a stronger set.

-Jewelry  (if you are engaged or married make sure you bring your ring to the session)

-fishnets, garter belts, tights

Some styles are the “thing of the past”! My work is very contemporary magazine inspired & timeless! I want you to enjoy these beautiful images for as long as you live and not be embarrassed  by them. So cheesy costumes, lollipops are not encouraged in my studio.

After reading this are you still feeling overwhelmed or are you excited for your upcoming photoshoot? I hope it’s the latter!

Hopefully your photographer has already given you plenty of pointers already at pre-consultation, which is the most important part of my workflow! Meeting my clients weeks before their session gives us the opportunity to get to know each other, build rapport and help my clients feel more at ease on the big day.

I wish you an amazing session and an experience of a lifetime! It’s definitely going to be a day you’ll never forget!
