How to Prepare for Your Personal Branding Photoshoot

So you booked a photographer and now you wonder how to prepare for your personal branding photoshoot? Whether you’re a freelancer, an influencer, or a small business owner, creating an authentic personal brand is crucial to your success and growth. Your personal brand is what sets you apart from all the rest and what keeps people coming back to you again and again. There’s so much that goes into creating a gorgeous personal brand, but your personal brand photos should be at the forefront of your mind.

Here are a few things you can do to prepare yourself and your photographer for your Personal Branding Photoshoot:

Write down your story

Create a strong personal connection with your audience by telling them a story. Take a moment to write down who you are, why you do what you do, and what you have to offer potential clients. Building your personal brand isn’t about putting on a new personality — it’s about sharing the things that make you uniquely you in a calculated, beautiful way.

Come up with a vision

What describes your personal brand? What do you want your personal brand to look like? Is it bright, fun, young, quirky, and refreshing? Artistic, moody, minimalist, cool, and enigmatic? Professional, sophisticated, intelligent, trustworthy, and revolutionary? Think about those things first before moving forward. If you are starting from scratch I recommend you create a Color Palette mood board, that fits your style and your business and go from there. Search for “color palette mood board” in Pinterest and you’ll find a lot of great inspirations.

Consult with your photographer

Let your photographer in on your vision for your photoshoot and for your brand itself. Make sure your photographer understands your story, your values, your image, and your personality. That way, your photographer will be able to prepare as well — choosing location, light, and shooting style accordingly. This is a very important step for me. I ALWAYS meet with my client prior to their shoot and discuss their WHY, their target audience, I’ll look at their website and branding colors and I’ll design their shoot specifically catered to them. So communication is key!

Look your best

My Personal Branding sessions always includes Professional Hair and Make up. If you are working with another photographer, who doesn’t provide hair and make up, I highly recommend you source one out for yourself. It will make ALL the difference in the World. When it comes to wardrobe, choose outfits which will make you feel confident and assist telling who you are. My clients are welcome to change outfits as many times as they like. Different outfits can give you variety of photos for your marketing. Check with your photographer if that’s an option for you.

Once you’ve done the work to know the story you’re trying to tell and the vision you’re striving to create, your personal brand photoshoot will fit right into place. If you feel prepared, confident, capable, and beautiful, all of those qualities will shine through in your photos and help refine your brand.

I hope you found this blog post helpful. My wish for you is that you have FUN with this process. You’ll see the final results will help you take your business to the next level!
